Tip: What's the difference between a JSA and a SWMS.

Job Safety Analysis - A job Safety analysis is a one-or-two page document that outlines the hazards associated with a task on the day it is to be completed and how the task can safely be performed.

A  Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a written document that sets out high risk construction work activities to be carried out at a workplace, the hazards and risks arising from these activities and the measures put in place to control the risk.

A SWMS is not required for non-high risk work construction activities. However a PCBU must manage health and safety by eliminating or minimising risk so far as reasonably practical . This means that SWMS are often prepared even if the work is not High risk construction work.
